Dromoland Castle Golf & Country Club – Sponsored Golf Tournament
We first met the team at Cahercalla Community Care & Hospital in early 2004 and, being a leading charitable institution in the region where we live, we were very keen to support their mission. Our Foundation committed to providing funds to Cahercalla via sponsoring a golf tournament at Dromoland Castle Golf Club, Newmarket-on-fergus, in October 2004, and all proceeds raised from the tournament went directly to Cahercalla CCH. Our Foundation’s sponsored golf tournament at Dromoland has been held every year since that date, enjoying a high participation from the Club’s members and their guests.

“The Anderson Charitable Foundation has been a loyal and continuing supporter of the Board of Cahercalla in our endeavours to provide high quality care to our elderly and vulnerable residents. We are very grateful for this ongoing support, and look forward to maintaining and developing our relationship with this Foundation as we continue to provide for the needs of our community.”
Dr. Michael Harty
Chairman of Cahercalla
“Dromoland Castle members, together with sponsors Jacqui and Richard Anderson and their charitable Foundation, have been supporting Cahercalla Hospice since 2004, and we are proud to continue supporting such a worthy cause in the years ahead.”

20th. Anniversary Golf Tournament
To mark the 20th. anniversary of our sponsored golf tournament at DCGC, the management proposed elevating our event to a major club competition and, so, the inaugural ‘Anderson Charitable Foundation 4-Ball Challenge Cup’ took place over three days of the Irish August Bank Holiday 2024. And, to demonstrate our Foundation’s ongoing commitment to supporting Cahercalla CCH, we agreed to match the total amount raised from entrance fees to our event, resulting in a significant increase in the overall donation made to Cahercalla Community Care Hospital.

Easy-to-access Mobile Flower Beds
With some of the proceeds of the funds raised from our Foundation’s 2024 sponsored golf tournament, the management team at Cahercalla decided to produce a number of easy-to-access flower beds for use by the residents. Not only was this a most imaginative idea, the team wanted to convert some defunct hospital beds into repurposed flower beds; and with the kind support and input from a local fabricating Company, the mobile flower beds were produced. The end result meant that the residents could get outside to engage in a hobby many of them cherished from their earlier years; and the Cahercalla staff were pleasantly surprised to discover so many ‘green fingers’ among the residents!

2025 Anderson Charitable Foundation ‘Challenge Cup’
Jacqui and Richard Anderson were delighted to return to their home at Dromoland Castle to present their Foundation annual golf ‘Challenge Cup’ to the winners. Although typical ‘Irish weather’ meant the DCGC was without electricity for the presentation we didn’t let the darkness disrupt an most enjoyable celebration. A huge ‘Thank you’ to all participants, and DCGC for hosting the event and, as our Foundation has done for the past 21 years, all proceeds raised is given to Cahercalla Comminity Care Hospital, Ennis, to assist them provide care and support for those in our community.

Kitchen Equipment
The management team at Cahercalla informed us that many of the female residents have a deep and cherished history of food preparation, especially baking for their family members; and it would give them great pleasure to continue this long-held tradition. However, given their existing immobility, it is not possible to stand for any length of time in Cahercalla’s main kitchen to prepare and make pastries, etc. We therefore agreed to allocate some of the funds raised from our 2025 Foundation golf tournament held at Dromoland Castle Golf Club to purchase a range of kitchen equipment which the residents could use while seated; and we are delighted to see the results of their endeavours! Well done ladies, and we wish you many more pleasurable baking occasions.

2026 Anderson Charitable Foundation ‘Challenge Cup’
Jacqui and Richard Anderson were delighted to attend the cup and cheque presentation ceremony, held at Dromoland Castle Golf Club in late-August, following our sponsored golf tournament held over the August Bank holiday weekend; and we were most pleased to have raised 4,000 euros for Cahercalla Community Care Hospital & Hospice. ‘Thank you’ to all those who participated in the tournament to raise funds for a most worthy local charitable organisation. Slainte!
